The History of The Illuminated Blonde

Before Legacy Brewing Co., Owner and Head Brewer Mark Mericle owned another brewery called Heritage Brewing Company located in Dana Point nearly 30 years ago.  Circa 1989 the average beer patron really only looked for beers like Coors or Bud Light.  Heritage Brewing decided to accommodate this light beer request with brewing a German Kolsch Beer using German Hops; giving it that crispness people in Germany expected and loved.  This beer is also known as a Blonde Beer.  When brewing this blonde, the 1st batch came out to about 6% which was a little too strong for those domestic beer lovers.  Then it was dialed down to 5% and voila, Heritage's blonde was born!  

Golden Lantern was the street name that Heritage Brewing was located on in Dana Point.  Subsequently the Blonde was named Lantern Bay Blonde after the street and surrounding area.  A couple of years later in 1992 the Lantern Bay Blonde won gold at GABF in the Blonde Division.  

Fast forward to now and Mark owning Legacy Brewing Co., we have been brewing this Blonde the same way; now called The Illuminated Blonde.  We hope that you enjoy this 28 year old award winning beer and if you haven't tried it, now's the time.  Pouring daily right from our Tap Room in Oceanside or at Legacy Tap-N-Kitchen in Miramar, San Diego.

Legacy Re-Fresh Party 4/8!

If you haven't noticed a lot has changed with Legacy Brewing Co.  New logo, new interior design at the Brewery, new beers, NEW NEW NEW!

With all this newness we'd like to celebrate by throwing a party!  Woohoo, party yeah!  We'll have live music (Shane Hall - acoustic guitar/vocals from 1-4 pm & Prime Livity 6 - 9 pm), Legacy Tap & Kitchen serving food, and of course great beers.  We'll be re-introducing our ESB along with some special fruit beers that we know you'll love!

No entry fee at the door either, just roll on through with your friends and have fun.  See you on Saturday, 4/8! Cheers!

St. Paddy's Day Celebration @ Legacy Brewing Co

Join us this Friday as we celebrate St. Paddy's Day at the brewery!  Green Beers pouring all day and a live bagpiper from 6-8 pm.  This will be a fun night!  Additionally we'll have wood fired pizza being served from 4-8 pm!  Cheers!

Seaweed & Gravel X Legacy Motorcycle Ride - 3/26

For our March ride we've teamed up with our good pals from Leucadia, Seaweed & Gravel. These guys literally build some of the most epic vintage bikes on the planet! They've been featured all over the world and even made it onto the Esquire Network, Wrench Against the Machine.  

The plan is to meet at S&G at 10 AM in Leucadia, ride to Julian and then ride back to Legacy for beers and good times with friends! Julian this time of year is primo and will make for a ride you'll not want to miss. Join us!

Our first meet up ride was a complete success! We had 16 bikes with over 20 people riding. The ride to Borrego was awesome and the weather was perfect! Next one up is with our good buds at Seaweed & Gravel scheduled for Sunday 3/26/17. More details to come.

The Captain's Son!

The Captain's Son performed this past weekend at the Brewery and man oh man did they kill it! Future is bright for these fellas and we are already stoked for the next time the play at Legacy! If you're a band looking to play a gig reach out to us, we'd love to hear ya!
